Katie Taylor still holds three lightweight belts and remains undisputed at 140

After enjoying a brief reign as simultaneous two-division undisputed champion, it looks as though Katie Taylor will stick around at 140 pounds. Sky Sports reports that Taylor has vacated her IBF lightweight belt, prompting the sanctioning body to order Caroline Dubois vs Rhiannon Dixon.

The pair have until January 20th to sort things out. I’m not convinced Boxxer and Matchroom will play nice.

Dubois (8-0, 5 KO), last seen cruising past Magali Rodriguez to claim the IBO belt (the only one that really matters), is down for it. She’s presently set to return to action on next month’s Joshua Buatsi vs Dan Azees show, but I’m sure TBA would step aside if compensated appropriately.

Dixon (9-0, 1 KO) is coming off a shutout win over Katharina Thanderz and, as Scott put it, doesn’t have many more mountains left to climb at 135. With Taylor’s exit, Dubois is essentially the only worthwhile target unless Dixon also decides to vacate the premises.

Women’s boxing is at a high point right now, so hopefully their respective promoters can come together and keep the momentum going.
