Fox’s Erin Andrews Laments Rude Fan at Bucs-Saints Game: ‘Am I an Animal in a Zoo?’
Erin Andrews has been Fox’s top sideline reporter for a decade, making her a celebrity within the NFL community. That kind of reputation has its cons, though, as evidenced by an interaction that Andrews had at a recent game.
On her Calm Down podcast with Charissa Thompson, Andrews explained how a simple discussion with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield before last week’s game vs. the New Orleans Saints turned into a frustrating situation.
“I was standing—name drop—with Baker Mayfield before the game talking because I haven’t seen him for the past year and as I’m standing there, this guy was like ‘Erin, come over here! I want a picture!'” Andrews said, via The New York Post. “I was just like, ‘Am I an animal in a zoo?’”
The fan was so annoying that even Mayfield chimed in.
“Baker taps me on the shoulder and he’s like ‘Have fun with that one,’” Andrews said.
Andrews also told a different story about another fan interaction, this one at an airport bar while exhausted coming home from a game, when a man told her to “smile more.”
“Don’t tell me to smile, I’m hungry!” Andrews said.
The Fox reporter said she doesn’t understand why some people feel the need to interact with her in these manners. Some people just can’t control themselves when they see someone they know from TV.
