Fabrizio Romano reveals how Tottenham currently feel about struggling Xavi Simons
Xavi Simons has got off to a shaky start at Tottenham Hotspur and Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on whether or not the player has the trust of his club.
Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea to the signature of Xavi Simons in a move which delighted the club’s supporters.
Spurs had previously missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, but there was optimism that Simons would prove to be a stronger signing than both those players.
However, the attacking midfielder has not adapted well to the Premier League and has been heavily criticised for his displays for Tottenham up to this point.
Tottenham are ready to be patient with Xavi Simons
One report earlier this month revealed that people behind the scenes at Spurs see Simons as a superstar.
According to Fabrizio Romano on GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham still have faith in Simons and there is belief that he will come good as his time in North London progresses.
Romano wrote: “He [Xavi Simons] needs some time, it’s seen as normal adaptation for a young boy. Spurs have no doubts about Xavi and his skills, it’s just a matter of time.”
Simons will take on the club he almost joined
The 22-year-old will face his biggest Tottenham test yet on Saturday, with Chelsea making the short trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Simons only has one Spurs goal contribution, despite making 11 appearances in all competitions. If he is able to add to this in the London derby, it would go a long way in endearing him to the Tottenham support.
