Thomas Frank shares Cristian Romero update after shock injury in Tottenham warm-up

0

Thomas Frank has now shared a fitness update on Cristian Romero after the Aston Villa defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur suffered their second defeat of the Premier League season in their recent outing against Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That defeat saw Frank’s men miss the chance to climb into second in the Premier League table, as they now sit in sixth place, behind top four rivals, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal.

It was a rather painful loss for the Dane, who watched his side fail to capitalise on taking an early lead through Rodrigo Bentancur’s strike, only for Villa to stage a comeback and win 2-1.

A defeat, however, is not the only thing on the manager’s mind, with Frank also having to deal with the absence of his skipper, Cristian Romero.

Romero was set to feature from the start, having made an early return from international duty earlier in the week, but he picked up a knock during the warm-up, with Kevin Danso replacing him as a result.

Thomas Frank has now provided an update on the fitness of the defender, revealing that he does not expect it to be anything big.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Spurs boss said: “Minor abductor injury. He felt a little bit the past few days. We expected him to be fine but he wasn’t. I don’t expect it to be anything too big.”

Spurs focus shifts to European action after Premier League setback

Spurs will now turn their attention to European matters following their latest defeat in the Premier League.

Up next is a trip to France, where Tottenham will take on Monaco in matchday three of the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham remain unbeaten in Europe, having secured a victory on matchday one and a draw against Glimt last time out, and Frank will be hoping his side can bounce back with a win on Wednesday night.
