Why ‘coming hours’ will be key in Tottenham’s bid to sell Bryan Gil for under £10m
A club official has flown to Hotspur Way to meet Bryan Gil, and is expected to begin talks with Tottenham over the player’s signing.
Tottenham have signed four players so far this summer, and Eberechi Eze is expected to become Spurs’ fifth signing of the summer.
However, the Lilywhites have struggled to sell the players deemed surplus to requirements. Manor Solomon and Yves Bissouma are still at Tottenham, as is Bryan Gil, who confirmed as early as April that he will be leaving Spurs.
It was reported a few days ago that Bologna are considering a move for Gil, with the Spurs winger said to fit the profile of winger that the Serie A side are looking for.
Talks expected to take place between Bolongna and Tottenham over Bryan Gil
It has now been reported by Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) that Fabio Paratici met with Bologna’s director of football at a friendly to pitch the idea of the club signing the Spain international.
The report claims that following those talks, an official from the Serie A side was invited to the Spurs training ground to watch over the winger, who is recovering from an injury.
A scouting report has been made on the 24-year-old, and Bolonga are now holding internal discussions regarding the transfer.
The outlet adds that discussions over the former Sevilla man’s signing will be held ‘in the coming hours’, with the talks expected to circle around the player’s current fitness levels.
Injury has scuppered Gil’s transfer hopes
Tottenham have not provided too much information on the seriousness of the winger’s injury, but his fitness issues are the likely reason why they have not been able to offload him.
According to reports, Spurs are ready to accept less than £10m for Gil, and for that price range, the player should have attracted plenty of transfer interest, especially for La Liga.
The Tottenham Hotspur man has done well in all his loan spells and played for Spain as recently as last year. One thus suspects that his injury is more complicated than first thought, and wonders if the 24-year-old may struggle to pass a medical.
