Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham just took a major step toward Eberechi Eze deal
Fabrizio Romano has delivered a fresh update on Eberechi Eze’s future, as Tottenham and Crystal Palace continue to hold talks.
Given how long Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Eberechi Eze, supporters of the north London side will be hopeful that a deal can finally be struck for the Palace talisman.
Eze was a standout performer last season, building on his previous campaigns with 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances for the Eagles.
Beyond the numbers, the midfielder etched his name into Palace folklore by playing a vital role in guiding the club to their first-ever major trophy, lifting the FA Cup in what was a historic achievement for the South London outfit.
Tottenham receive Fabrizio Romano update on Eberechi Eze transfer
Tottenham’s interest in the Palace man, which had seemed to cool earlier in the summer, has now gathered pace once again in the past few days. Respected transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has now provided yet another update on the future of Eze.
According to Romano, it is understood that Eberechi Eze informed Crystal Palace earlier this week of his desire to join Tottenham.
Talks are said to be progressing, with the player reported to be convinced by Spurs’ project and is ready to make the move this month.
However, Romano also made clear that nothing has been finalised yet, and while Eze is pushing for a switch to north London, negotiations are still ongoing as the transfer window edges towards its conclusion.
Eze agrees on personal terms with Spurs
Romano has also gone on to reveal that while both clubs are working on finalising a deal, Eze has now agreed on personal terms with Tottenham, with an agreement having been reached since last week.
The Premier League season is already underway, and Crystal Palace are set to face Chelsea in their league opener on Sunday.
Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Eberechi Eze has trained with the Palace squad this week, yet fresh reports suggest that a major clue regarding his future could emerge tomorrow.
It is understood that Eze may not feature for Palace against Chelsea, which would be a strong indicator that a transfer to Tottenham could be edging closer.
