Arsenal’s current stance on Eberechi Eze could have huge impact on Tottenham

0

As Tottenham prepare an opening offer for Eberechi Eze, a new report has shed light on whether their North London rivals are expected to enter the race for the attacking midfielder.

Until last week, it was widely reported that Arsenal are Eze’s most likely destination this summer, with Tottenham only being considered outsiders in the race.

However, the script has flipped completely over the last few days as various sources, including Fabrizio Romano, have reported that Tottenham have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race for Eze.

Now, according to a new update, the Lilywhites may be unapposed in their pursuit of the attacking midfielder as the Gunners’ transfer priorities have changed.

Arsenal are not expected to bid for Eberechi Eze as Tottenham ramp up pursuit

Journalist Greame Bailey has now revealed that Palace’s £60m valuation of the 27-year-old has put off Arsenal, who do not see a number ten as a priority.

He claimed that the Gunners are currently focused on signing a left winger while Spurs want a number ten, which is why Thomas Frank’s men are the ones expected to push ahead with a move for the Eagles star.

Bailey told TBR Football: “Eze is a tricky one. Steve Parish is asking well over £60 million, which is a difficult price. Arsenal liked the player, but that move seems to be off for now.

“Some people think Spurs might consider him too expensive, but I suspect they’ll try. They’ve paid that sort of money before, and I think Spurs will come in for him and probably get him.

“Unlike Arsenal, who always viewed Eze as a number 10 rather than a solution for the left-hand side, Tottenham see him as someone who can play on the left. That flexibility is likely to push Spurs to make a move in the coming days.

“Meanwhile, Arsenal are expected to focus on strengthening the left-hand side rather than pursuing someone they see primarily as a number 10. They are unlikely but not completely impossible to make a move for Eze at this point.”

An offer from Spurs is imminent for Eze

Amidst suggestions that Mikel Arteta’s side are no longer keen on the player, it appears that Tottenham are now pushing ahead with an approach.

According to Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe, Spurs are preparing their opening offer for Eze following their talks with Crystal Palace.

It was reported by talkSPORT earlier today that Tottenham are hoping to land Eze for around £55m, which is what they paid for Mohammed Kudus, but it is not clear how such an offer would be viewed by the Selhurst Park hierarchy.
