Tottenham watch Ligue 1 star as search for James Maddison replacement intensifies
Tottenham Hotspur are ramping up their search for a number ten to replace James Maddison, and the Lilywhites have now added a French youngster to their wishlist.
Dejan Kulusevski is set to miss the first month of the new season as he continues to work his way back from injury.
With James Maddison now joining the Swede on the treatment table, Spurs fans on social media are now desperate to see the club sign a number ten swiftly as the season draws closer.
A whole host of attacking midfielders have been linked with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks, and another name has now been added to the club’s wishlist.
Tottenham eyeing move for Monaco starlet Maghnes Akliouche
The Mirror have now revealed that Spurs had already been eyeing a number ten prior to Maddison’s injury, but the club’s search has now intensified after the 28-year-old tore his ACL.
The report says that Monaco youngster Maghnes Akliouche is currently being scouted by Tottenham Hotspur, but it is unclear if he is an active target.
The versatile 23-year-old scored seven goals and provided 12 assists across all competitions last season, but he operated primarily on the right wing, only occasionally playing as a number ten.
The report adds that Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey previously attracted interest from Spurs, but he is not thought to be an active target for the Lilywhites any longer.
Tottenham have competition for two other targets
The Mirror confirm what we have heard from other sources over recent weeks by stating that Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss and Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott are also on Tottenham’s radar.
However, it is revealed that Aston Villa, Sunderland and Leeds United have all made enquiries over the Moroccan as competition for his signature intensifies.
The publication also adds that RB Leipzig are currently in talks over a deal for Elliott, with the Bundesliga club identifying the Reds starlet as their top target to replace Xavi Simons, who is bound for Stamford Bridge.
