Manchester City legend predicts how Jack Grealish would perform at Tottenham
Former Man City centre-back Richard Dunne has spoken about Pep Guardiola’s treatment of Jack Grealish and has made a confident claim about how the versatile attacker will perform at Tottenham.
Thomas Frank has suffered a huge setback just weeks ahead of the new season, with James Maddison suffering a serious injury in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle in South Korea.
According to some sources, signing an attacking midfielder has become the top priority for Spurs following Maddison’s injury, and the Lilywhites may turn to a long-term target.
It has been claimed that Tottenham are eyeing a move for Jack Grealish, who is surplus to requirements at Man City, and this is not the first time the North London club have tried to sign the 29-year-old.
According to reports, Spurs held extensive talks with Grealish’s representatives about a move in January, but the player decided to remain at the Etihad Stadium at the time.
Richard Dunne claims Jack Grealish would be an excellent signing for Tottenham
Dunne believes that the former Aston Villa man could have made a big impact for City last season and lamented the fact that Pep Guardiola never gave him game time.
The pundit admitted that it is time for the England international to move on from Manchester, and opined that he will be a huge asset for Thomas Frank’s men if he moves to North London.
When asked about Grealish’s situation at City, Dunne told Sports Mole: “It’s a shame really. It’s just about being in form at the right time. And when players had a bit of an off-season last year, it was an opportunity for Grealish to stand up and be the one who brought the goals and assists. But he never got the game time.
“It’s difficult for him, and that opportunity is gone. It’s probably time for him to move on. As good a player as I think he’s been, I don’t think he’ll get the chance at City any more.
“So, unfortunately, he will move on. But wherever he goes, he’ll be a huge asset. Certainly, if he went to Tottenham Hotspur, he’d be a fantastic player for them.”
What is Grealish’s stance on joining Spurs?
Even though the versatile attacker may have turned down a move to N17 in January, he is thought to be willing to make the switch this summer.
This was the information provided recently by GiveMeSport, who claimed that Grealish prefers a move to Tottenham over West Ham this summer.
The outlet revealed that Everton are also circling over the City star, but added that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the player’s most likely destination this summer if he moves to London.
