Club insider confirms and denies Tottenham interest in two England U21 starlets
Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has now set the record straight regarding Spurs’ rumoured interest in Manchester City starlet James McAtee.
Since Morgan Gibbs-White signed a new three-year contract at Nottingham Forest, the big question on the minds of Tottenham fans has been which alternative the Lilywhites would turn to.
Spurs were previously interested in Xavi Simons, but he is now expected to complete a move to Chelsea this summer.
Some sources have claimed over recent days that Manchester City’s James McAtee and Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott are on Tottenham’s radar.
Paul O’Keefe rubbishes Tottenham’s interest in James McAtee
It has emerged over the last few days that Tottenham would have to pay £42.5m to land McAtee, as Manchester City are reluctant to let him leave.
However, Spurs insider, Paul O’Keefe, who regularly breaks news on the developments at Hotspur Way, has now revealed that the City man is not a target for the Lilywhites this summer.
O’Keefe did confirm that Elliott is admired by Spurs, although he is not sure if the North Londoners are likely to make a move for the Liverpool man.
Tottenham will have to break the bank for Harvey Elliott
TBR Football claimed a few days ago that Thomas Frank is prepared to give Elliott the number ten role at Spurs in order to convince the youngster to agree to a move to N17.
However, the deal for the 22-year-old will not be straightforward, with Liverpool wanting a fee of over £50m for the Spurs target.
It has also been revealed by Fabrizio Romano that Tottenham are facing competition from three or four different clubs for Elliott.
