Thomas Frank sheds light on who could replace Heung-min Son at left wing

0

As reports indicate that Tottenham are eyeing a big-name forward to replace Heung-min Son, Thomas Frank has given his thoughts on who could take the Spurs legend’s place.

Son confirmed on Friday that he will be leaving Tottenham this summer, and the announcement has led to an outpouring of emotions on social media from Spurs fans.

Tributes have been pouring in from Son’s current and former teammates, but perhaps the person who summed up the feelings of the fans the best was James Maddison.

Maddison declared that ‘Tottenham is Sonny and Sonny is Tottenham’, with the attacking midfielder admitting that he will be friends for life with the 33-year-old.

Thomas Frank claims young Tottenham stars can step up after Heung-min Son’s departure

Reports indicate that Tottenham are prioritising bolstering their forward line this summer, which makes sense given that they are losing one of the most prolific forwards in Premier League history.

However, Frank believes that there are several young wide-forwards at the club who are ready to step up and take Son’s place on the left.

When asked who could replace the Tottenham legend, the Spurs boss told Football.London: “First and foremost, when a great player is leaving a team, other players have a chance to shine. Brennan Johnson is a player who could play on the left.

“Also, I think that Wilson Odobert did well against Arsenal and can play on the left, and also Mathys Tel is a flexible player. I think we have some young, promising players that hopefully can step up and take over from Sonny in the future.”

Who are the forwards Tottenham are eyeing this summer?

While Tottenham are not short of options upfront, Frank previously admitted that Spurs may not be done adding to their forward line.

Over the last few days, we have heard reports that Spurs are reigniting their interest in PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani.

It has been alleged by some sources that Tottenham are also considering an audacious move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo.
