Tottenham agree option to buy fee with Bayern Munich for Joao Palhinha

0

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to complete the loan signing of Joao Palhinha, and Fabrizio Romano has now revealed how much the purchase option is worth.

It was widely reported on Thursday that Tottenham had begun talks with Bayern Munich over a loan deal for Joao Palhinha.

It has seemingly not taken long for the Lilywhites to strike a deal with the Bundesliga giants, with reports now widely claiming that Spurs are on the verge of landing Palhinha.

The Portugal international will be the fourth signing of the summer for the North London side and will help beef up Thomas Frank’s midfield.

How much would Tottenham have to pay to sign Joao Palhinha permanently?

It was reported by Sky Sports yesterday that Tottenham will not have an option or obligation to buy Palhinha, with only a season-long loan move being discussed.

However, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal will come with an option to buy the former Fulham man next summer.

Romano gave his ‘here we go’ seal of approval to the transfer and revealed that the purchase option will be worth €30m (£26m).

Why this Palhinha deal is an excellent one for Spurs

The 30-year-old has plenty of Premier League experience and would be expected to hit the ground running at Tottenham Hotspur.

His age is the only downside, limiting his resale value, and we know that the last player over 30 Spurs signed permanently was Fernando Llorente back in 2017.

However, the fact that this comes with an option to buy rather than an obligation, and for a discounted price at that, means that this deal has little to no risk attached for Tottenham.
