Leeds United receive huge boost in hopes of signing Tottenham outcast
Transfer market expert Graeme Bailey has backed Leeds United to reignite their interest in a Tottenham winger in the final few weeks of the transfer window.
Several reports backed Leeds to make a permanent move for Manor Solomon on the back of his outstanding loan spell at Elland Road last term, but those rumours appear to have gone quiet over the last month.
The Israeli international is still at Hotspur Way, and it has been reported by some sources that Thomas Frank wanted to take a closer look at Solomon during pre-season.
It was claimed by Leeds Live at the start of this month that Solomon would prefer to stay at Spurs if Frank wanted to keep him in his squad.
Manor Solomon could leave Tottenham after the start of the season
Leeds United’s goodbye post for Solomon last month was seen as a big hint by many that the Yorkshire side are not expected to land the 25-year-old permanently this summer.
However, Graeme Bailey has now explained that Daniel Farke’s side remain interested in the winger and suggested they may pounce on him in the final weeks of the transfer window if he finds himself out of Frank’s plans.
The journalist told TBR Football: “Leeds still really like Manor Solomon. I think there’s a very good chance after a couple of games, once we get into the start of the season and Solomon sees he’s not first choice at Spurs and involved — I think we could see him at Leeds.
“Leeds still like him an awful lot, I think there’s a very good chance Solomon still ends up at Elland Road. For the sake of Leeds going for their second choice, they may as well hang on. They wanted Solomon and he’s not going to be particularly expensive. So I think he is in their minds.”
Why Solomon did not play against Reading
Many would have expected Mohammed Kudus’ arrival to be the final nail in the coffin of Solomon’s Tottenham career, and some fans might have seen his absence from the matchday squad against Reading as confirmation that he is not in Thomas Frank’s plans.
However, according to Football.London, it was an injury that ruled Solomon out of the pre-season clash against Reading.
Alasdair Gold believes that Tottenham are likely to cash in on Solomon before the start of the new season, and according to some sources, Burnley are also interested in the Spurs winger.
