English club want to sign Tottenham record-breaker on a permanent transfer
Millwall are now eyeing a permanent deal for one Tottenham youngster, with the Championship side keen to strengthen ahead of the new season.
The 25/26 season is set to begin in a little under a month, and Tottenham Hotspur are still working to get their squad together ahead of their opening clash against Burnley.
Tottenham have already completed a few signings, including Mohammed Kudus, Kota Takai, Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso, with a total outlay of £110.5 million.
Still, Spurs are reported to be on the lookout for more additions to their squad, particularly in midfield, as Thomas Frank looks to improve his options and bolster the depth available to him.
Millwall target Tottenham midfielder Alfie Devine
While incomings have been slow in the past few weeks, outgoings have taken centre stage. Josh Keeley has been sold to Luton Town, and Ashley Philips has joined Stoke City on loan.
Now, fresh reports from the Mirror state that another Tottenham player has caught the eye of a club in the lower divisions of English football.
It is understood that Tottenham midfielder Alfie Devine is now a target for Millwall, who are actively pursuing more additions to their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Devine, who progressed through the Tottenham academy and has featured twice for the senior team, scoring one goal, spent last season on loan in Belgium with Westerlo.
The midfielder became Tottenham’s youngest-ever goalscorer at 16 years and five months when he netted against Marine in the FA Cup in January 2021.
Devine could benefit from regular minutes at Millwall
The 20-year-old enjoyed a solid spell in Belgium, featuring 32 times in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing one assist.
The youngster has also featured for Tottenham since returning from loan, as Frank handed him some much-needed minutes in the pre-season friendly against Reading, where he played the opening 45 minutes.
Tottenham are reported to be open to loaning out some of their youngsters this summer, and it remains to be seen whether Devine will be one of those on the list.
With Millwall in the Championship, it certainly looks like a positive step up for the young midfielder, but with the Lions proposing a permanent transfer, Spurs have a decision to make.
