Thomas Frank explains why he is so excited about Mathys Tel at Tottenham

0

Thomas Frank has revealed that he is delighted at Tottenham’s permanent signing of Mathys Tel and has made a claim about the forward which will excite Spurs fans.

On Sunday, Tottenham confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for Tel’s permanent transfer on the back of the 20-year-old’s loan spell at the club.

Spurs paid just under £30m for Tel, who has signed a six-year deal with the North London club, with the Lilywhites getting a massive discount on their £45m option to buy the Frenchman.

It was reported by Alasdair Gold a couple of days ago Thomas Tel studied Tel closely before approving his signing, and the new Tottenham boss has now spoken about the deal.

Thomas Frank is ‘very excited’ about Mathys Tel at Tottenham

Frank has now spoken about the first signing of his tenure at the North London club, describing the former Bayern Munich man as a “very talented” player.

The Dane referenced the 20-year-old’s versatility and admitted that he is looking forward to developing his all-around game so that he can get goals with regularity for his side next season.

Frank told Spurs Play: “Very, very excited about Mathys signing with a permanent deal. I think he’s a very talented player who can play across the front four positions.

“He’s a goalscorer that we can develop even further to be more consistent in his all-round game but also to more consistently land in the right positions in the box. So I’m looking forward to it.”

Thomas Frank believes Tel is a good fit for his system

It was claimed by TEAMtalk last week that Frank sees Tel as a good fit for his dynamic system and values the youngster’s work rate and adaptability.

The 51-year-old had a brilliant track record of improving attacking players during his tenure at Brentford, with the likes of Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo hitting new heights under his tutelage.

Given what Frank has said about Tel, Spurs fans have good reason to be excited about what the Dane can get out of the France Under-21 international, who appears to have all the required attributes to thrive at the highest level.
