‘I think he’ll stay at Tottenham’ – Agent plays down rumours of a Spurs exit

0

Radu Dragusin’s agent has made a very curious admission about the centre-back’s future, explaining that he and Tottenham have fielded a few requests for his client over the past 12 months.

Dragusin did not have an easy start to life at Tottenham when he arrived at the club in January of 2024, with the centre-back struggling to get game time during his first six months at the club.

However, in the season just passed, the Romanian made 28 appearances across all competitions before his campaign was cut short by an ACL injury.

In the meantime, transfer rumours have continued to swirl regarding the 23-year-old, with Inter Live even claiming recently that Tottenham could use Dragusin as a part of a swap deal to land Inter Milan’s Yann Bisseck.

Radu Dragusin’s agent thinks he will stay at Tottenham

The Tottenham man’s agent, Florin Manea, is not the most popular figure among the supporters, down to the fact that he regularly gives interviews publicly discussing his client’s future and the possibility of a transfer.

Manea is at it again, explaining that the centre-back is now working extremely hard to return to action as soon as possible.

He made it clear that he expects the former Genoa man to stay at Spurs, asserting that the defender is fully focused on being available for selection for the Lilywhites at the earliest possible opportunity.

When asked about the rumours linking Dragusin with a return to Serie A, Manea told Stile TV (via Napoli Magazine): “Radu is on holiday, but I always see him in the gym, in fact, I make fun of him! He’ll be back playing in August.

“I think he’ll stay at Tottenham, there were a few requests before the injury, but the club didn’t sell him, he didn’t want to change teams, so everything has remained the same.

“Then there are a lot of rumours, especially with Chivu’s arrival at Inter, because we are very good friends with Chivu, but they’re just speculations. Our minds are focused on recovery: the boy wants to get back to playing as soon as possible and be stronger than before.”

Manea opens door to loan move to Napoli for Dragusin

A couple of months ago, it emerged that Antonio Conte was keen on taking Dragusin to Napoli and had urged his employers to launch an offer for the Tottenham defender.

Manea also specifically addressed the rumours of liking the Spurs man with a move to the Serie A champions, explaining that they have expressed an interest in his client in the past.

Curiously, he suggested that Dragusin may be interested in moving to the Diego Armando Maradona stadium if Tottenham were willing to sanction a temporary deal.

The centre-back’s agent added: “Conte is one of the best coaches in the world, then I like Napoli, but from here to saying that he’ll play for Napoli there’s a long way to go.

“Then, Tottenham don’t want to let him go and he has no intention of leaving so at the moment everything is on hold, then in the future, we don’t know what can happen.

“We have a great affection for Manna because the Napoli director of football has seen Dragusin grow. I spoke to De Laurentiis before going to Tottenham, but the deal was already almost done.

“But then I didn’t hear from him again. If Tottenham want to loan him out then he could come to Italy, but I’m sure that next year he will stay here and play more.”
