The news of Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal as Tottenham Hotspur has been reverberating around the playing squad over the past few days.
Following Tottenham’s decision to sack Ange Postecoglou on Friday, which came on the second anniversary of his appointment of head coach, there has been plenty of debate over whether or not it was the right decision.
Tottenham explained why they sacked Postecoglou within a statement on the club’s official site which highlighted the Premier League form as the catalyst for change.
The dismissal of the Australian is said to have left many upset, with some Spurs players having threatened to leave the club such was their dismay at the board’s decision.
Some Tottenham fans have been divided over Postecoglou’s exit, while some believe the Europa League win warranted him a stay, others believed that it is impossible to look beyond a seventeenth place finish in the Premier League.
Yves Bissouma shares what Ange Postecoglou said to him on WhatsApp
Many of the Tottenham players have posted messages of thanks to Postecoglou on social media in recent days.
One such player to do so was Yves Bissouma after he posted a classy message in tribute to the 59-year-old’s impact on his Tottenham career.
Bissouma has now gone a step further by sharing on his Snapchat account a screenshot of a WhatsApp message exchange between himself and his former manager.
Postecoglou wrote: “Hi Biss. I’m sorry I missed your call. I am very proud of you. It was an honour to share a dressing room with you and I appreciate how much you believed in what we were trying to achieve. I wish you only the best for the future. I will always be following. Much love from my family to yours.”
Bissouma replied: “Thank you gaffer and thank you really much for everything you did for me on and off the pitch I’ll always be grateful. the way you believed me and trusted me was incredible I gonna miss you but it’s football life a got a lot to said but I think you know what I’m thinking about you already so I just wishing you all the best for the future and may God protect you and you family #bigboss love.”
Postecoglou added: “Always by your side Biss.”
Thomas Frank must now look to reunite the Spurs squad
With Thomas Frank set to take the Tottenham job, he now must quickly look to get the Tottenham first-team squad back on track.
The highs of the Europa League success have been followed by the dismissal of Postecoglou, who many of the squad were very close to. This is Frank’s first job at a very high level with the greatest respect to Brentford and he must now cut his teeth at being able to man-manage top players.
