Five frontrunners to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham after controversial sacking

0

Tottenham are on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Ange Postecoglou – but who are the frontrunners to take over the reins at Hotspur Way? Here are the five names linked with a move to Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur have sacked Ange Postecoglou after the Australian spent just two seasons in the Tottenham dugout.

Postecoglou’s poor Premier League form was what ultimately cost him his job, as he oversaw the Lilywhites’ worst-ever League campaign, finishing 17th in the League table, while also losing 22 games, the most in the club’s history.

But, it was not all gloom during the manager’s two-year reign, as he gave Tottenham fans some of their best memories after he won the Europa League, ending the club’s 17-year wait for silverware.

Tottenham have been linked with five managers

With the Australian having been sacked, Tottenham Hotspur are now actively searching for a replacement for the 59-year-old.

A few names have been reported to be linked with a move to Hotspur Way, including Marco Silva, Andoni Iraola, Thomas Frank, Oliver Glasner and Simone Inzaghi.

Thomas Frank to Tottenham?

It has been reported that Tottenham have had talks with Brentford’s Thomas Frank, with discussions about players and the project reported to have taken place.

Fabio Paratici likes Simone Inzaghi

Simone Inzaghi, who has won nine trophies during his time at Inter Milan and Lazio, has also been linked with the Spurs job.

Tottenham are said to be hoping their links with Fabio Paratici can help convince the Italian, although it is claimed that Inzaghi is more likely to remain at Inter Milan for one more season.

Oliver Glasner is being eyed by Spurs

Oliver Glasner has only just won a trophy with Crystal Palace, and it is reported that Glasner is more likely to stay at Selhurst Park, but Tottenham still have him on their list.

Marco Silva, and Andoni Iraola are on Tottenham’s list

Marco Silva, Thomas Frank, and Andoni Iraola are all deeply appreciated by the Tottenham hierarchy, with their experience in the Premier League and their ability to nurture young talents said to be vital, as Spurs consider their options.

Spurs need to act fast as summer window opens

The summer window has since opened, and while Tottenham have completed the signing of one player since its opening, the club would be hoping to get their business done in time.

Of course, securing a new manager in time would be the main focus, as Spurs look to rebuild their squad ahead of the start of the new season.

Ange Postecoglou’s sacking now makes him the 16th manager Daniel Levy has axed in 24 years at the helm of Spurs, and although the club has ended a long wait for silverware, stability in the dugout should be the next step for Tottenham.
