‘Hearing behind the scenes’ – Journalist reveals feelings inside the Tottenham squad about Ange Postecoglou
Amidst the circulating reports of Ange Postecoglou’s future, journalist Tom Barclay has now shed light on what the feeling is among the Tottenham squad about the club’s managerial situation.
It has been a week and a half since the 2024-25 campaign came to a close and the transfer window is now officially open, and yet, there has been no communication from Tottenham about their managerial plans.
Some sources indicate that despite the lack of an official announcement, the decision has already been made to sack Postecoglou and the search for his replacement has begun.
Postecoglou’s latest words indicate that he expects to be in charge next season, but in the meantime, speculation continues to run rife suggesting that Tottenham have reached out to the likes of Thomas Frank regarding their managerial role.
What the Tottenham players want to happen regarding Ange Postecoglou
Last week, the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray suggested that Postecoglou deserves to be at the club and build on his Europa League success.
A couple of days ago, Pedro Porro admitted that he would love to see Postecoglou continue at Spurs, but it remains to be seen if these words have any effect on Daniel Levy’s decision.
Journalist Tom Barclay is in no doubt that the 59-year-old remains very popular among the Tottenham players and he believes that the sentiment of the players is the best argument for Levy to stick with the former Celtic boss.
Barclay said on his YouTube channel: “It’s how they (the Spurs players) talk about Ange and the social media posts as well, when you put it all together and the stuff I’m hearing behind the scenes, there’s definitely a feeling the players want him to stay.
“They like him a lot. That’s always been the case, they haven’t downed tools. It would be better if Ange stayed from that perspective.”
Romeros Tottenham future may depend on Postecoglou
If reports over recent days are to be believed, a couple of the senior Tottenham players’ futures might be in doubt if the club make a managerial change this summer.
Reports from Argentina have claimed that Cristian Romero will do everything in his power to leave Spurs if Postecoglou is sacked.
Meanwhile, it has been alleged that Rodrigo Bentancur is waiting for confirmation on Postecoglou’s future before penning a new Tottenham contract.
