Tottenham one of ‘most serious contenders’ to sign Jack Grealish this summer

0

Jack Grealish is reportedly set to leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season and a new report has now claimed that Tottenham are one of the clubs at the front of the queue to secure the attacking midfielder’s services.

It was widely reported that Tottenham tried to sign Grealish in January, with the Lilywhites even thought to have spoken to the Man City star’s representatives over a move to N17.

They were ultimately unsuccessful and reports over recent weeks have suggested that Spurs could try their luck again for Grealish in the summer.

A fresh update has now confirmed that the England international has been deemed surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola and is expected to be one of the most hotly contested targets of the summer window.

Tottenham at the front of the queue to land Jack Grealish

This report comes from CaughtOffside, who say that Man City are willing to cash in on the 29-year-old for around €45m-€50m (£38m-£43m) this summer as they look to continue rebuilding their squad.

This has alerted Tottenham Hotspur who, along with Newcastle United, are believed to be the ‘most serious contenders’ to sign Grealish as things stand.

Aston Villa are also thought to be exploring the possibility of an emotional reunion with the attacking midfielder, who swapped Villa Park for the Etihad Stadium four years ago.

The report reveals that Nottingham Forest are also keen on Grealish, seeing him as a ‘statement signing’ while West Ham are also exploring a move for the City man, though the Hammers are seen as outsiders in the race at the moment.

One factor could be crucial for Spurs’ hopes of landing Grealish

CaughOffside say that Grealish has not yet made a final decision on his next destination. However, it is revealed that Champions League football will be an important factor in his eventual decision.

That means that Tottenham’s chances of landing the City man may be boosted significantly if they win the Europa League.

It was previously suggested by some sources that Jack Grealish’s £300,000 per week salary may be a roadblock for Tottenham, with the player potentially having to take a sizable wage cut to sign for the Lilywhites.
