Tottenham U18s hit Leicester City for seven as Luca Williams-Barnett scores again

0

Tottenham’s Under-18s delivered a masterclass on Saturday against Leicester City at the Foxes’ training ground to ensure that they remain within touching distance of the top of the table in the Under-18 Premier League.

While the Spurs first-team has been struggling to get results in the Premier League despite the return of key players from injury, the Tottenham youngsters are showing their seniors how it is done.

Stuart Lewis’s side men flexed their muscles away from home against Leicester on Saturday, putting seven past their hapless opponents.

It was a complete performance from the Tottenham Hotspur teenagers, who moved to within six points behind leaders Chelsea with three games in hand after this result.

Familiar faces star for Tottenham’s Under-18s

The away side raced into a two-goal lead within 11 minutes through early strikes from Tynan Thompson and Ellis Lehane.

Spurs never looked back after that, with Jun’ai Byfield giving the side almost an unassailable lead before the interval after a well-worked free-kick from Harry Byrne.

They continued from where they left off at the start of the second period, with Miracle Adewole putting the result beyond doubt with a fourth just four minutes after the interval, while Lehane subsequently added a second.

Both goals at the start of the second half were set up by the man who has arguably been the best player for the U18s this campaign, Luca Williams-Barnett, who would himself get on the scoresheet later.

Lehane then put the icing on the cake for Lewis’s men by completing his hat-trick in the dying stages of the game.

Luca Williams-Barnett continues to knock the door down

Following his latest masterclass against Leicester, Williams-Barnett now has 18 goals and six assists in 15 matches in the Under-18 Premier League this season.

The attacking midfielder is continuing to go from strength to strength, and it might not be too long before he makes his senior Tottenham debut if he continues developing as he is.

While that opportunity is unlikely to come this season, the 16-year-old may have a chance to showcase his skills during pre-season if he is included in the club’s tour of the Asia Pacific.
