Tottenham urged to sign Dutch forward before even selecting next manager
Paul Robinson has urged Daniel Levy not to wait until a replacement for Ange Postecoglou is confirmed before pushing ahead with a move for a striker, who is thought to be on Tottenham’s summer wishlist.
Tottenham Hotspur boast some of the most talented teenagers in world football in their ranks and it turns out that the club are now turning their attention to another young starlet.
It first emerged last week that Spurs are eyeing a move for a Feyenoord academy graduate Zepiqueno Redmond, whose contract with the Eredivisie club runs out in June.
This was subsequently backed up by another source, which stated a couple of days ago that Tottenham are favourites to beat Bournemouth to Redmond this summer.
Paul Robinson wants Spurs to push ahead with Zepiqueno Redmond move
The one thing that could complicate Tottenham’s summer plans is the fact that there is still no clarity on who will be the club’s head coach for the start of next season.
It has been widely reported that Ange Postecoglou is expected to be sacked by Spurs even if the club win the Europa League, which potentially puts a break on their planning for the summer window.
However, Robinson believes that when it comes to signing young starlets like Redmond, there is no need for the Lilywhites to wait until a new manager arrives through the door.
The former Tottenham number one told Football Insider about Spurs’ interest in the Dutchman: “That’s the type of recruitment that you can do without a manager. There’s a lot of upheaval at Tottenham – Redmond’s the type of player that you sign without a manager.
“That’s the board’s decision, that’s the director of football decision, the recruitment team – you’ve identified him; 18 years old, [he’s] come through the academy, a top quality player.
“If you’re hat’s in the ring for that one, you’ve got a good quality player, you don’t need the manager’s approval to sign a player like that – that one can be done without a manager.”
Tottenham might also see changes in the recruitment department
It is not just the head coach who is expected to be changed at Spurs this summer, with some outlets stating that there could be changes in Tottenham’s recruitment, medical and sports science departments as well.
Additionally, it has also been suggested that Daniel Levy is trying to bring Fabio Paratici back to Spurs in an official role.
Unless those changes are first finalised, it will be difficult for Tottenham to start planning for the summer.
