Chelsea are ready to pounce if Tottenham let highly-rated attacker go
If Tottenham Hotspur do not activate the option to sign Mathys Tel permanently this summer, one of their London rivals is reportedly prepared to jump at the chance to do so early in the transfer window.
Tel scored his first Premier League goal from the penalty spot in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Sunday.
While Spurs fans will be happy to see the forward get off the mark, they will be hoping to see a lot more from him than they have in his first couple of months at the club.
The Frenchman is yet to really set the world alight since his switch in January and according to reports, Bayern Munich are worried that Tottenham might not activate the £42.5m option to buy Tel.
Mathys Tel is on the radar of another Premier League side
GiveMeSport have now suggested that Tel might end up in London this summer even if Spurs do not sign him permanently.
This is because the 19-year-old is also on Chelsea’s radar, with Enzo Maresca keen to bring in a right-footed left-winger through the door this summer.
It is revealed that the Blues are already putting plans in place to make early moves in the summer. The outlet asserts that they would be ready to push ahead with an offer for Tel if their London rivals do not activate the option to sign him.
Another Tottenham target is also wanted by Chelsea
Interestingly, the publication reveals that Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens is another player who is ‘appreciated’ by the Stamford Bridge hierarchy as they go in search of a left-winger.
This is not good news for the Lilywhites as it has been widely reported that Tottenham are ready to spend big to bring Gittens through the door this summer.
The winger is expected to be on the move from Dortmund this summer, with some sources claiming that Gittens is valued at around €60m (£50.6m).
