Tottenham fans have their say on Fabio Paratici returning to replace Johan Lange
Tottenham Hotspur fans are split over who should be in charge of the club’s recruitment, with some calling for the return of Fabio Paratici, while others back Johan Lange to continue leading the club’s transfer dealings.
Tottenham’s transfer business has been hit and miss in recent years. Some key signings, such as Dejan Kulusevski, Destiny Udogie, and Guglielmo Vicario, have strengthened the squad.
However, there have also been missteps, with Bryan Gil, Timo Werner, Yves Bissouma, and Clément Lenglet failing to make a lasting impact.
At the centre of it all are two men—Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange. Paratici played a key role in Spurs’ transfer strategy until his resignation in April 2023 following his conviction for financial malpractice in Italy.
Lange has since stepped into the role, but with Tottenham enduring another disappointing season, fans are debating who should be at the helm.
Tottenham fans debate: Fabio Paratici or Johan Lange?
Despite Paratici stepping down, he has remained involved with Spurs in a consultancy role. Johan Lange, who took over the role after Paratici’s departure, has faced challenges this season.
Tottenham’s lack of squad depth was brutally exposed during an injury crisis, contributing to a slide down the Premier League table. Currently 13th in the league, Spurs’ struggles have led to growing calls for change.
With reports suggesting AC Milan are interested in securing Fabio Paratici’s services, we asked Tottenham fans on social media whether they would prefer to see him reinstated or if Lange should continue leading the club’s recruitment.
One fan said: “We overrate Paratici because of Deki and Bentancur when he brought Emerson, Dragusin, Gil, Bissouma, Richarlison, Forster, Lenglet, Brennan, Werner, Veliz, etc.”
Brian Haining added: “We need to be sure Paratici works within the law in the future if he does return. Lange has brought some excellent players in. It is a difficult question, and without knowing how either work and their remit, it is impossible to answer.”
Jack Howland commented: “Really, keep Lange for the younger players and let Paratici concentrate on the first 11.”
Paul Watson weighed in: “Do not think the problem is Lange. His signings have largely been fine WITHIN the remit the ownership places on him.”
Another fan was more direct: “No brainer…get rid of Lange and get the Don back!”
The real issue at Tottenham: Recruitment or resources?
Both Paratici and Lange have worked within the limitations set by the club. Paratici’s signings remain a key part of the team, forming a significant portion of the starting lineup.
Meanwhile, Lange has focused on securing young talents, some of whom have shown promise and represent a bright spot in an otherwise difficult season.
Ultimately, both directors can only operate within the financial structure imposed on them. Whether it is Paratici, Lange, or someone else leading the charge, the true determinant of Tottenham’s success in the transfer market will be how much backing they receive from the club’s hierarchy.
