Ange Postecoglou bites back at question on Yves Bissouma skiing incident
Ange Postecoglou was not a fan of a question that was put to him about how Yves Bissouma decided to spend his days off earlier this week, with the Australian giving a pretty clear and emphatic response.
Tottenham’s schedule has eased off considerably over the last few weeks. Ange Postecoglou has used the opportunity to give his Spurs players regular days off to help them recharge their batteries.
The Tottenham head coach reportedly gave both Sunday and Monday off to his players this week and it was reported that Yves Bissouma chose to spend those days at a ski resort in the French Alps.
Yves Bissouma went on a short skiing holiday this week
It is perhaps not the ideal way that Postecoglou would have wanted his players to spend their days off, with the 59-year-old likely preferring them to rest at home with their feet up.
However, the Australian has made it clear that he has no issue with what the former Brighton man did, being very dismissive of the question about his ski trip.
When Postecoglou was asked if he gave his players days off, given that Bissouma had been at a ski resort this week, he responded (via Football.London): “Seriously, what sort of question is that? No, I didn’t, we were training but he decided to go skiing… come on mate, you’re better than that!”
When asked what his view was on Bissouma going skiing, Postecoglou said: “I don’t worry about those things, mate. They’re adults, they’re human beings, they had a couple of days off, they can choose to use that time as wisely as they can to help them be ready for what’s in store for us.
“You kind of hope that they’re sensible about these things and go about whatever they do in a manner that befits the position they hold, but I have no concerns and he’s fine.”
Bissouma has struggled for game time recently
It is not as if Bissouma has got a lot of mileage on his legs over recent weeks and desperately needed the rest.
The Mali international has evidently fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham and has largely been watching on from the bench over the last month.
He is well within his rights to go on a small holiday to recharge himself mentally ahead of what could be an important few months for the midfielder, who is seemingly fighting for his Spurs future.
