Mathys Tel left in awe of Tottenham teammate’s ‘technique and calmness’
Mathys Tel has only been at Tottenham for one month, but the forward has already been mesmerised by what he has seen one of his new teammates do.
There is one interesting phenomenon about James Maddison’s career at Tottenham so far. Even though he has produced impressive goals and assist numbers, and almost always makes an impact on games, there is still a perception that he has not produced his consistent best in a Spurs shirt.
That was encapsulated by the fact that Roy Keane and other pundits bizarrely pointed to Maddison as an example of what is wrong with the current Spurs side, even though he has managed 17 goal contributions across all competitions so far this season.
That is perhaps evidence that Maddison’s world-class potential is obvious to many, who expect elite-level output from him on a consistent basis.

It is not just the former Leicester man’s numbers that are impressive, but anytime one watches him play, his class on the ball is immediately apparent.
That is something that has certainly caught the eye of Tel, who admitted that he has been impressed with the attacking midfielder’s technique and calmness on the ball.
When asked during TNT Sports’ 20 questions segment which attribute of a Tottenham teammate he would want to have, the Frenchman said: “Maddison. Every time, his calmness on the ball, his technique is crazy so yes, the calmness on the ball and his technique.”
Maddison is a fantastic character to have in the changing room
Apart from his qualities as a player, Maddison is a brilliant personality to have in the changing room. He is a great competitor who loves the big occasion and is also a natural leader.
The 28-year-old does not complain when he is left out of the starting lineup or when he is constantly taken off for 60 minutes.
He sets an example for the younger players at the club to follow and thus has a key role to play alongside the likes of Heung-min Son, Vicario and Romero in guiding this young side through pressure moments.
