Tottenham battling to sign Radu Dragusin’s international teammate

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign one of Radu Dragusin’s international teammates, who has a modest release clause in his contract.

Andrei Ratiu was part of the impressive Romanian backline that impressed in the Euros last summer alongside Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin.

Since his impressive showing in the Euros, the right-back has continued to shine for Rayo Vallecano this season and his performances have now reportedly brought him to the attention of several clubs across the continent.

A new report from Spain suggests that Tottenham Hotspur are very much in the thick of the race to sign the 26-year-old this summer.

This comes from Mundo Deportivo, who claim that Ratiu’s name is ‘in fashion’ across Europe, with clubs from Spain, Italy, Germany and England queueing up to sign him this summer.

One of those is Spurs, who are joined in the race for the Rayo Vallecano man by Brighton, Atalanta, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla.

Additionally, Barcelona are also said to be following Ratiu with ‘great interest’, with the full-back’s representatives already said to have met with the club’s sporting director, Deco.

Ratiu is available for a cut-price fee

The publication remarks that although Ratiu’s market value is ‘growing by the day’, the player has a release clause of just €25m (£20.6m) in his contract, which becomes active this summer.

That is why the right-back is expected to be ‘one of the protagonists’ of the summer market as clubs from across the continent line up to sign him.

Whether Dragusin can perhaps put in a word to his international teammate and sway his decision remains to be seen.
