Guglielmo Vicario will love Mark Lawrenson’s Ipswich vs Tottenham prediction
Mark Lawrenson is very optimistic about Tottenham’s chances of getting a result against Ipswich Town at the Portman Road Stadium, with the pundit identifying one area where Spurs have improved over recent weeks.
Ahead of the clash against Manchester United last week, Ange Postecoglou expressed hope that Spurs could have a natural reset on the back of what has been an extremely challenging few months both on and off the pitch.
The reason the Australian coach said that a few of the club’s injured players have now returned from injury, while Spurs also no longer have a game every three days to deal with.
Postecoglou would have been delighted to see the returning James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario step up and ensure that his side overcame Man Utd last Sunday, and he will now be hoping that they can carry that momentum onto Saturday’s clash at Ipswich.
Mark Lawrenson’s Ipswich v Tottenham score prediction
Even though Tottenham are still without their first-choice centre-back pairing, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, Mark Lawrenson saw enough in their win over United to believe that the Lilywhites have improved defensively.
The pundit backed the North London side to keep another clean sheet at Ipswich – which Guglielmo Vicario will enjoy – and emerge with a comfortable win from Portman Road Stadium.
Lawrenson told Paddy Power: “Ange Postecoglou has got a few players back and they’ve tightened up in defence a bit. I bet they all feel good after beating United last week and it’s two in a row now. They should make it three wins on the bounce here.”
Score prediction: Ipswich 0-2 Tottenham.
Posetecoglou has selection decisions to make after a long time
For the last three months, Postecoglou has often had to manage with no more than 13 or 14 fit first-team players, which has meant that the team often picks itself.
For the first time in a long time, the Australian now faces a few decisions across the pitch, with a number of injured Spurs players now back fit.
The likes of Brennan Johnson, Pape Sarr, Wilson Odobert and Destiny Udogie, who were on the bench against Man Utd, are all pushing to start on Saturday.
