Tottenham hero Dele Alli’s football nightmare continues over in Serie A
Former Tottenham fan favourite, Dele Alli, has yet to kick a ball since making a switch to Italian side Como, and the club’s manager, Cesc Fabregas has now provided a worrying update regarding the midfielder.
There is a lot of goodwill among Spurs fans for Dele, given the amazing memories the attacking midfielder gave the Tottenham faithful after arriving at the club as a teenager.
The England international was a key part of the Mauricio Pochettino revolution at Spurs, which is an era that the fans look back on extremely fondly.
However, Dele Alli has well-documented off-field struggles over recent years, including injury setbacks, which prevented him from getting opportunities at Everton.
Cesc Fabregas provides an update on Dele Alli
The 28-year-old joined Serie A side Como on a free transfer in January, signing an 18-month contract with the Italian side in an effort to get his career back on track.
However, the former Tottenham man is yet to feature for his new club and Fabregas has now provided a worrying update about the player, revealing that he might not be available to play until next season.
The Como head coach said about Dele (via The Daily Mail): “He’s working off the pitch at the moment. I don’t want to put extra pressure on him, he hasn’t played for months.
“From (Monday) he will be at full capacity with the group, after the personalised work of the last few weeks. He needs time, I spoke to him and I was clear with him, we are here to help him. We believe we can do it.
“We need patience to see him back on the pitch: please, let’s stay calm. The last few months will be used to get back in shape for next season.”
Tottenham fans want to see Dele Alli back to his best
It is clear from Fabregas’ words that Dele has found a club and a manager who is willing to be patient with him and give him all the help he needs to get back to the level he was at previously.
Tottenham fans will be desperately hoping that the MK Dons academy graduate is able to put his injury woes behind him and rediscover his love for the game.
