Ramon Vega shares what he has heard about potential Qatari takeover of Tottenham Hotspur

0

Ramon Vega has revealed what he has heard about interest from Qatari investors in a Tottenham takeover and the former Spurs defender’s update might not please the supporters.

The news first broke last week that a group of investors from Qatar are showing interest in Tottenham Hotspur. They are allegedly keen full buyout of the club rather than just buying a minority stake.

The report explained that discussions have been held regarding a takeover and revealed that should the consortium be successful in their attempt, they could hand a long-term contract to Daniel Levy to continue running the club as chairman.

This might come as bittersweet news to Spurs fans, many of whom want the club to be sold to more ambitious owners but would also hope to see the back of Levy.

Ramon Vega denies Tottenham takeover talks

Several sources have since confirmed that talks have been held regarding a buyout of Spurs, with beIN SPORTS presenter Richard Keys claiming that he has even heard that a deal to buy Tottenham had already been agreed.

However, Vega has now poured cold water over these claims, with the former Spurs defender taking to social media to reveal that there have been no talks held between Qatari investors and Daniel Levy.

It is unclear who Vega’s source is, but it is clear that Tottenham are keeping all talks under wraps. They will be keen to ensure that the negotiations are not done as publicly as they have been by some of their Premier League rivals over recent years.

Spurs fans should be careful what they wish for

Tottenham fans who are convinced that the change of ownership will instantly turn things around and bring success to the club should look at the example of how INEOS have struggled with Man Utd.

United fans were desperate for the Glazers to step back, but many of them are now even more frustrated with the current ownership for their poor decisions.

We now operate in the era of PSR, which means that the days of owners simply bankrolling singings are over. For all of Levy’s faults, he runs a tight ship and ensures that Spurs always have room to manoeuvre in the transfer market.
