Spurs retain interest in £50m attacker after failed January move
Spurs are expected to make another move for an exciting young Premier League teenager in the summer after having their interest knocked back in January, but the competition for his signature is heating up.
Tyler Dibling has stood out despite Southampton’s form
Southampton remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, having won just two of their 25 matches so far this season and look destined to go straight back down.
There have hardly been any bright sparks for the Saints in what has been a campaign to forget, but one of the few has undoubtedly been the emergence of Tyler Dibling.
The 19-year-old winger has shown plenty of promise so far this season, and even though he has only four goals and two assists to his name across all competitions so far, his talent is clear for all to see. That is why a number of Premier League sides appear to be circling ahead of the summer window.
Spurs to try again for Tyler Dibling this summer
According to a report in TBR Football, Spurs expressed an interest in Tyler Dibling during the January window but were unable to get the deal over the line.
Ange Postecoglou‘s men continue to hold a ‘strong interest’ in the Southampton man and are expected to return with another offer for the player in the summer.
However, it is explained that the competition for the teenager is now heating up, with many considering him to be one of the best young prospects in the Premier League.
Chelsea, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest are also very keen on Dibling, with several of these clubs having scouted him over recent weeks.
The England Under-21 international is also reportedly attracting interest from Germany, where Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also watching his situation.
Southampton’s stance on Dibling revealed
The outlet claims that the South Coast club have tried to tie down the winger to a new deal, but the youngster has made it clear that he will not extend his stay at St Mary’s.
Ivan Juric’s men are thus expected to cash in on their academy graduate this summer, but they have no intention of letting him leave on the cheap.
It is asserted that Southampton will demand in excess of £50m for Dibling as they see no reason why he should go for less than what they sold Romeo Lavia to Chelsea for in 2023.
