Tottenham Hotspur could be in line for a takeover as a consortium from Qatar shows interest, and Daniel Levy may even give them a discount on his original valuation.

Many Spurs fans calling for Daniel Levy to leave

Levy‘s popularity with the Tottenham fan base appears to be at an all-time low at the moment, with the supporters regularly chanting for the club chairman to depart during recent matches.

Spurs fans have reportedly organised a huge sit-in protest ahead of their upcoming home game against Manchester United to express their discontent with the way Levy and the owners have run the club.

It now looks like some fans might finally get their wish as a Middle Eastern consortium is stepping up efforts to buy a controlling stake in Spurs, but there is one major catch.

What did the report say about Daniel Levy’s future?

Spurs Web relayed a report from the Guardian this week that said a group of investors from Qatar are looking to buy out Tottenham, but the consortium may not replace Levy as chairman.

The report says that the prospective investors are willing to give the 63-year-old a long-term contract to continue running the club as executive chairman.

Although the identity of the Qatari consortium is unclear, it is made clear that they are private individuals rather than the government-backed Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) or Sheikh Jassim.

They want control of the North London club, and their takeover could take the form of a phased buyout, but even if ENIC become a minority shareholder, the newcomers are ready to offer Levy a management contract to continue running the club.

This all comes as the BBC report that Daniel Levy is willing to step down from his role at Tottenham if and when the time is right.

Daniel Levy could discount Tottenham takeover

Football Insider relay this report from The Guardian and offer their own information on how much a potential Qatari takeover of Spurs would be worth.

They explain that Levy has valued the whole club at £3.75 billion while holding discussions with various parties about the sale of a potential minority stake.

However, it is asserted that Spurs‘ takeover could be worth less than that amount, with the Qataris likely to pay between £2.5-£3 billion.
