Crystal Palace make big Marc Guehi decision after Tottenham’s £70m bid
After rejecting a huge offer from Tottenham for Marc Guehi in the latter stage of the January transfer window, Crystal Palace have now given up hope of keeping the defender beyond the end of this season.
Tottenham failed with a mega offer for Marc Guehi
Tottenham had a strong end to the January window, securing Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel in the dying stages of the market, but they also reportedly tried to push through another sensational deal before the window slammed shut.
According to reports, Spurs submitted an offer of £70m for Marc Guehi, which was sent back by Crystal Palace, who did not want to lose a key man so late in the window.
It has been suggested by several outlets that the Lilywhites are big fans of the 24-year-old and are expected to go back in for him when the window reopens in the summer.
Crystal Palace make Guehi transfer decision
According to a report in Football Insider, Palace are already putting plans in place to sell Guehi in the summer and have given up hope of keeping him at the club.
This is because the England international enters the final year of his contract in June and it would thus be the last opportunity for the Eagles to get a sizable fee for him.
In fact, it is alleged that Oliver Glasner’s men have already started looking for like-for-like replacements for Guehi as they expect a number of clubs to come knocking for the player in the summer.
Tottenham will face intense competition for Marc Guehi
However, Spurs will know that they will not have a free run at the Palace man by any stretch of the imagination.
Football Insider say that while Tottenham have not given up hopes of landing the centre-back, they are expected to face competition from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle for his services.
The South London side are hoping that a bidding war breaks out for Guehi as they look to make a ‘significant profit’ from his sale.
