Pundits have constantly ripped into the under-pressure manager with many questioning his tactical setup and his ability to get the most out of his current squad.
The pressure continues, and this time, Pascal Chimbonda speaking on Inside Spurs on talkSPORT, has questioned Ange Postecoglou’s goalkeeper choice.
The pundit says it was a strange decision for Tottenham to bring in Antonin Kinsky this summer, particularly given that Austin was already part of the squad but had not been given sufficient opportunities to prove himself.
He said: “Because it’s the manager who decides, you have a goalkeeper coach as well who decides. But, I think they should’ve given him a chance early and see what he’s capable of doing.
“You can’t keep a young, tall, big keeper on the bench, and he’s been at Spurs for so long. They should’ve given a chance before when Vicario was even playing. Alternate sometimes to see what this kid’s capable of doing and take it from there.
“You can’t have a goalkeeper on your bench and after a couple of weeks, you go get another one (Kinsky). That, for me, is strange.”

Kinsky who joined Spurs at the start of the January transfer window, has since played eight games for the Lilywhites and has conceded 13 goals.
His underlying numbers do tell a completely different story, as the goalkeeper’s passing, shot-stopping and saves have been impressive.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper is clearly not ready to be Spurs’ number one, given that he still has the odd mistake in him, but his numbers and the way he allows Tottenham to play out from the back is a huge advantage.
While Austin remains at Tottenham Hotspur this season, there is a chance he might be seeking a new challenge elsewhere. However, given the injury crisis that the club has had to deal with this season, it remains to be seen if Spurs will part ways with their third-choice goalkeeper.
