Andoni Iraola keeps being linked with Tottenham

As the speculation over Postecoglou‘s future continues, one manager has been linked more heavily with the hot seat at N17 than any other coach over recent months: Andoni Iraola.

The 42-year-old has quickly emerged as one of the most sought-after young managers in the game on the back of his brilliant work at Bournemouth, who are on course to register the highest Premier League finish in their history.

The Spaniard has managed to get results while playing a brand of exciting football that has got many big clubs to stand up and take notice of his work.

Why Andoni Iraola will be Tottenham’s top choice

Just a few days ago, it was suggested that Iraola is part of a three-man shortlist that Tottenham had identified to replace Ange Postecoglou, with Thomas Frank and Edin Terzic being the others.

According to a new update from The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel, the Cherries boss will be at the top of the North London club’s wishlist to take over from the Australian should their patience with the current project run out.

It is revealed that apart from many other qualities, one of the factors which make Iraola attractive to Spurs and other clubs in the Premier League is the fact that he will be into the final 12 months of his contract at the South Coast this summer.

That means that clubs would not have to pay top dollar to prise the Basque-born coach away from the club.

Bournemouth’s plans to keep hold of Iraola

Mokbel explains that Iraola is not likely to jump ship before the end of the season and Bournemouth are hoping to extend his deal at the Vitality Stadium.

Although talks over a new deal are yet to get underway, the Cherries hierarchy are said to be ‘comfortable’ with the situation at the moment.

The journalist adds that Bournemouth are hopeful that Iraola will not walk out of the club after having moulded ‘a young, vibrant team’ which appears to be heading places.
