Tottenham monitor Arsenal academy graduate playing under Mauricio Pochettino
Reports from Italy have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are closely monitoring a 22-year-old former Arsenal youth product – Yunus Musah.
Tottenham Hotspur show interest in another Serie A player
Tottenham Hotspur are no strangers to recruiting from Serie A, having signed players such as Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario, and Destiny Udogie from Italy.
In the winter window, the Lilywhites tried to do business with another Serie A club, AC Milan, aiming to sign centre-back Fikayo Tomori, but the player turned down the move.
There is now a chance that Spurs could target another Serie A player, one with ties to their local rivals, Arsenal.
Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Yunus Musah
MilanLive is reporting that there is a possibility Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Fikayo Tomori’s teammate, Yunus Musah.
According to the publication, Spurs are carefully assessing the situation of the 22-year-old United States international, who has impressed both in midfield and on the right wing.
The report further reveals that AC Milan refused to sell Musah to Napoli last summer due to the trust the management had in him.
However, with growing interest from the Premier League, MilanLive suggests that the Serie A club may be tempted to sell the versatile midfielder.
Ironically, Musah also plays his USA international football under beloved former Tottenham head coach, Mauricio Pochettino.
Yunus Musah’s stats amidst Tottenham links
Musah is a graduate of Arsenal’s academy, making his links to Tottenham even more intriguing. However, if a deal happens, he would not be the first player to represent both north London clubs.
In the past, players like Emmanuel Adebayor, Sol Campbell, and William Gallas have worn both the red and white shirts of north London.
While Musah’s versatility could certainly benefit Spurs, his current output raises concerns. In 28 appearances for Milan this season, the midfielder has managed just two assists.
If Tottenham are to sign a midfielder, they should ideally target one who can consistently contribute goals and assists. Based on Musah’s current stats, he still has some way to go to meet that standard.
