Spurs had a strong end to the window

The fact that Tottenham managed to push through a late deal for Mathys Tel has made the outlook on the window much more positive for the Lilywhites.

The club managed to strengthen in goal, central defence, and attack with three impressive additions, which is a lot more than many of their Premier League rivals were able to manage.

It has now emerged that Spurs failed with a late move for a Spain international, but they were not the only ones.

Tottenham showed keen interest in Ferran Torres

According to the print edition of Marca (as relayed by Sport Witness), Ange Postecoglou‘s men looked closely at a deal for Barcelona forward Ferran Torres during the window.

The report says that both Spurs and their fierce rivals, Arsenal, were ‘very attentive’ to the 24-year-old, but the La Liga giants blocked the player from leaving.

Additionally, Milan also allegedly contacted Barca about a deal for Torres, but their efforts were not entertained by the Catalan club, while Napoli, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund also enquired about the former Man City man.

Will Tottenham try again for Ferran Torres in the summer?

It has been reported over recent days that Tottenham are expected to prioritise signing an elite forward in the summer to take some of the goalscoring burden off Dominic Solanke.

Torres is the kind of profile that Postecoglou loves, given his versatility and his technical attributes.

If Richarlison does depart the club at the end of the season, one should not rule out the possibility of Spurs trying to replace the Brazilian with the Barca man.
