Tottenham Hotspur refused to sell one of their players to Monaco on transfer deadline day but there remains the possibility of him leaving over the next few days.

Sergio Reguilon’s decision to stay last summer left many Tottenham fans Spurs, but the fact that he was not let go during the January transfer window was a little more understandable.

Destiny Udogie is currently out with an injury, and Ange Postecoglou does not have too many other left-backs in the squad, which is why the Spaniard has been getting some minutes of late.

Reguilon is into the final six months of his contract, but it turns out that Tottenham turned down a deadline day offer for him.

Daniel Levy blocked Sergio Reguilon’s exit

According to a report in AS, AS Monaco made a deadline day offer to sign the Tottenham left-back, but were unsuccessful in their pursuit.

The report says that the Spurs hierarchy blocked an exit for the 28-year-old, but there remains the possibility that he will leave over the next week.

This is because the Turkish transfer window remains open until February 11 and Galatasaray and Besiktas have both shown interest in Reguilon.

The outlet adds that a move to either one of the Istanbul giants would be ‘undoubtedly interesting’ for the left-back.

AS add that Spurs supremo Daniel Levy remains ‘reluctant’ to let Reguilon depart the club over the coming days, which is why the player is likely to see out his contract at N17 and depart as a free agent in the summer.

One would imagine that Postecoglou has communicated to the Tottenham chairman that the former Real Madrid man might be needed in case of injuries, given that the club decided against signing a left-back in January.
