Harry Kane release clause reports could interest Tottenham Hotspur fans

0

A huge detail in Harry Kane’s contract has come to light, and it will be of a lot of interest to Tottenham fans, with a clause reportedly allowing the striker to leave Bayern Munich in the summer for just over half the fee that the German club paid for him 18 months ago.

Harry Kane continues to break records in Germany

Bayern Munich paid £100m to sign Kane from Tottenham in the summer of 2023, and while that might have seemed like a steep fee for a player who was on the wrong side of 30, the striker has proven to be worth every penny for the Bundesliga giants.

The England captain has scored 70 goals and provided 22 assists in 72 matches for the German side since his switch to Munich, and he will hope to fire Vincent Kompany’s men to multiple trophies this season.

However, it has now emerged that the former Spurs man has the option of leaving the Bavarian side for a cut-price deal this summer – if someone comes in with a bid.

Kane clause opens the door for cut-price Bayern exit

This report comes from Sport Bild, who say that during Kane‘s big-money switch to Bayern, some interesting clauses were added to the striker’s contract that gives him an exit option.

The outlet claims that if the 31-year-old wished to do so, he could have departed the Allianz Arena for just £66m in the recently closed January transfer window. Of course, it would be dependent on Bayern receiving a bid of that amount.

In 2026, that figure drops down even further, with the Tottenham legend being available for a reduced fee of just £54m if he decides to seek a fresh challenge at the end of this season.

A return to Tottenham is not on the cards yet for Harry Kane

There is no suggestion in this update from Bild that the Spurs academy graduate is thinking about ending his adventure in Munich anytime soon.

However, this clause does provide an exit route for Kane should he change his mind in the future. Perhaps the forward will want to return to the Premier League one day to break Alan Shearer’s record.

Some Tottenham fans will be dreaming that the striker completes a fairytale return to N17 to finish his career where he started.

Remember, Tottenham have a first right-to-refusal clause in Harry Kane’s contract too. That means the North London club have the right to match any future bid that comes from the Premier League.
