The outlet explains that Tel’s initial decision to reject Tottenham was his means of showing Bayern that he would not be forced into a transfer.
However, it is revealed that Postecoglou then spoke with the France Under-21 international on the phone on Sunday evening, explaining to the player the role he would play in his system.
The Australian reportedly told Tel how much he valued his versatility and speed, and even suggested to the youngster that he ‘would torment Premier League defences’.
L’Equipe add that Postecoglou’s ‘long and concrete speech’ had its desired effect as it ‘scored points’ with Tel, who appreciated the Spurs boss for explaining his plans for him, with the Bayern man saying ‘yes’ to the North London club on Monday morning.
