Tottenham fans announce plans to stage protest against club’s ownership
Some Tottenham fans are not happy with the direction that the club is now headed in and one group of fans have announced detailed plans for a huge protest in a couple of weeks.
Discontent among Spurs fans at an all-time high
While the relationship between Tottenham fans and the ownership has been fractured at the best of times, the chasm between them is now wider than it ever has since ENIC took over at the club more than two decades ago.
Protests against the owners and chairman Daniel Levy have been heard regularly at the stadium during recent games as Spurs hover dangerously close to the relegation zone.
The discontent has only grown in light of the club’s inactivity during the current transfer window, with Spurs dragging their feet in making signings despite the injury crisis that Ange Postecoglou is dealing with.
Plans for protest against Spurs ownership announced
The supporters group ‘Change for Tottenham’ have now announced plans for a huge protest on February 16 ahead of Spurs’ Premier League clash against Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The group announced on social media that they are taking a stand against the direction that the club are headed in at the moment.
They have planned a ‘march for change’ at 14.45 pm ahead of kick-off, revealing that they plan to march from the crossroads of Lordship Lane and the Tottenham High Road, all the way to the West Stand.
Size of the protests may depend on what happens over next weeks
This has been a long time coming and seems like a good way to catch the attention of the media and send a clear message to the ownership.
If Tottenham do not have a strong finish to the window and if results do not improve over the coming weeks, we could see thousands potentially participate in this march.
However, at the same time, we have seen protest plans like this fall flat before. A lot thus depends on what happens between now and February 16.
