Are Spurs sensing a late transfer window opportunity?

Tottenham have so far been unable to secure a deal for a forward this window, having been rejected by both Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel.

With time running out in the transfer window, it remains to be seen if Ange Postecoglou’s side can pull something out of the bag and it turns out that they might be sensing a late market opportunity to secure a Premier League winger.

Following Marcus Rashford‘s loan move to Aston Villa, it has emerged that Tottenham are looking to tie up a late deal for one of Villa’s attackers.

Spurs enquire about availability of Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey

This news comes from Fabrizio Romano, who revealed on his YouTube Channel that Tottenham have “asked to be informed” about Bailey’s situation.

Romano further elaborated on the matter to GiveMeSport, explaining that both Spurs and Man Utd are exploring a move for the Jamaican international, but Unai Emery’s side have not opened the door to the transfer so far.

The Italian transfer expert told the outlet: “Tottenham called Aston Villa to be informed on the situation of Leon Bailey. What I can tell you is that Man United and Tottenham, both clubs, called to be informed on [Leon] Bailey.

“But again, it depends on Aston Villa, and at the moment, there is still no open doors. We will see on deadline day what’s going to happen on that one.”

Aston Villa might be tempted into a late sale

We know that Villa’s PSR situation is not great and now that they have further added to their wage bill by signing Rashford on loan, they might be open to late sale.

Bailey has not featured regularly this season and has not set the world alight for Unai Emery’s men when he has played, which is why Spurs and Man Utd seemingly think he is gettable.

We will see in the final hours of this window if Villa are open to a loan or a sale, but one would hope that Tottenham also have other alternatives lined up in case this move does not happen.
