Tottenham pushing for defender on deadline day; player prefers move elsewhere
Tottenham Hotspur have not given up their hopes of convincing one player to make a deadline day move to N17, although the player in question has not given his green light to the switch so far.
Spurs fans will be hoping for a busy deadline day
Tottenham have signed Antonin Kinsky and Kevin Danso so far during the winter transfer window, and the Spurs supporters will be hoping that the club can bring at least one more player through the door on deadline day as Ange Postecoglou continues to contend with injuries.
It has been widely reported over the last couple of days that despite the addition of Danso, Spurs want to add further reinforcements to their backline before the window slams shut.
According to several sources, the player that the Lilywhites have set their sights on is Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, who the Blues are willing to listen to offers to.
Tottenham are still trying to convince Axel Disasi
It emerged on Sunday that even though Spurs were able to strike an agreement with Chelsea to sign the defender on loan, the Frenchman had turned down the move.
Tottenham are not about to give up just yet, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has now revealed on his YouTube channel that Spurs are continuing to try to wrap up a deal for Disasi in the final hours of the window.
However, the Italian transfer expert explained that for the moment, the 26-year-old is continuing to say ‘no’ to Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Spurs may struggle to persuade Disasi
Even if Radu Dragusin is ruled out of action for a few months, Tottenham still have plenty of options at centre-back, with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Kevin Danso, Ben Davies and Archie Gray at Postecoglou’s disposal.
One can understand why Disasi is hesitant to agree to a loan move to N17 as the former Monaco man would be essentially be swapping the Chelsea bench for the Tottenham one.
Spurs might struggle to persuade any centre-back to join before the deadline, which is why they might be better off concentrating their efforts on securing an attacker.
