Tottenham pull plug on deadline day deal with player failing to give move green light
With just hours left until the transfer window slams shut, Tottenham Hotspur have just made a big decision on their pursuit of Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi.
Tottenham reportedly looking for further defensive reinforcements
Even though Spurs managed to sign Kevin Danso from Lens on Sunday, the club are reportedly looking to sign yet another centre-back before the transfer deadline.
The player they turned to was Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, who has not been a regular in the team under Enzo Maresca this season and is thought to be on the shop window.
With just hours left to go in the transfer window, it has now emerged that Tottenham have made a big decision regarding the Blues defender.
Tottenham make Axel Disasi transfer decision
It was revealed by Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel on Sunday evening that even though Disasi had failed to give the move to N17 the green light, Tottenham were continuing to push to get the deal over the line.
However, ESPN’s James Olley has now taken to social media to reveal that with just hours left until the window closes, Spurs have now made a decision to withdraw from the race to sign the Frenchman.
The journalist adds that after Tottenham’s decision, Aston Villa have now emerged as the new favourites to land the former Monaco man before this evening’s deadline.
Tottenham fans will not be disappointed by this news
The reports of Tottenham’s interest in Disasi were certainly not met with enthusiasm by Spurs fans as the defender has not set the world alight at Stamford Bridge.
This latest development will thus not disappoint the Tottenham supporters. However, Postecoglou evidently feels that he needs more reinforcements at the back following Radu Dragusin’s injury.
Time is now running out for Spurs to push through a late deal and there might be a sense of desperation at Hotspur Way at the moment as they scramble to save what has been a disappointing transfer window for the club.
