Tottenham’s need for attacking reinforcements

As January draws to a close, Tottenham Hotspur are still working to strengthen their squad, and one area that remains a pressing concern is their forward line.

Injuries have plagued Ange Postecoglou’s side in recent weeks, with Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, and Timo Werner all sidelined, leaving the squad stretched for attacking options.

Despite their efforts, Spurs have so far struggled to secure the additions they need, facing disappointment in their attempts to bring in reinforcements. They had shown interest in Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani, but both pursuits ended unsuccessfully.

Now, with the club searching for solutions, an opportunity has presented itself in the form of Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, a striker who has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs after a failed transfer to Saudi Arabia.

Tottenham take notice of Victor Boniface

According to TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Boniface has been offered to multiple Premier League clubs following the collapse of his proposed move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Nigerian forward had been set to join Al-Nassr for a fee exceeding £50 million, but the move fell apart when the Saudi side opted to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran instead.

The journalist has also revealed that Boniface has become a topic of discussion among clubs in England, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur all being made aware of his availability.

While it remains to be seen whether Spurs will make a formal move, Boniface’s situation presents a rare mid-season opportunity for clubs looking to strengthen their attacking options.

Victor Boniface’s stats and potential fee

Boniface has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Bayer Leverkusen so far, making 15 appearances across all competitions and registering eight goals and one assist.

His Bundesliga record stands out, with six goals and one assist in just 10 appearances, showing his ability to make an impact at a high level.

Beyond his goalscoring ability, the Nigerian forward offers a physical presence and versatility that could complement Tottenham’s current attacking setup.

This is an interesting proposition for Spurs, as it appears that £50 million is the price tag Bayer Leverkusen are looking for – the same fee Spurs and Bayern Munich agreed for the Mathys Tel deal. It will be interesting to see if Spurs make a move for the forward.
