Tottenham miss out on chance to sign striker thanks to London rivals
The race to sign Evan Ferguson is now over, and despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, one Premier League club has emerged as the frontrunner to secure his services.
Tottenham’s ongoing striker search
Tottenham Hotspur have been actively seeking a centre-forward during this transfer window, yet their pursuit has been far from straightforward.
The club identified Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel as potential targets, but both players opted against a move to North London.
Despite these setbacks, Tottenham remain in the market for attacking reinforcements, and one name that continues to surface is Evan Ferguson. However, the latest report is not good news for Tottenham Hotspur.
West Ham win the race for Evan Ferguson
According to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Brighton and Hove Albion were in discussions with multiple clubs regarding Evan Ferguson’s future, with several Premier League sides making their interest known.
Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth now reports that West Ham have won the race and will sign Ferguson on a straight loan for the rest of the season. The Brighton striker will have his medical today (Sunday).
Tottenham were linked with a potential deal earlier in the window – even if it was just a six-month loan to support injured Dominic Solanke and injury-prone Richarlison.
However, it was also said that Ferguson may not want to join Spurs just to play second or third fiddle once all the first-choice strikers are back fit.
Who will Tottenham sign instead?
It has been widely reported all month that signing a forward is a priority for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham in the winter window – so where are they?
With the likes of Kolo Muani and Tel choosing against a move to North London, we are left with links to people like Noah Okafor and Victor Boniface.
Whether Spurs pull the trigger on one of those deals or whether they just wait until Solanke returns remains to be seen.
