Tottenham player ratings vs Brentford – 9.5/10 for Man of the Match hero

0

The curtain has been drawn over today’s Premier League football in West London, and it’s time for player ratings as Tottenham overcome a tough Brentford team to claim three important points.

Throughout the match, we examined each player’s individual performance, rating them on a scale of 1-10. Let’s take a look at our full-time player ratings.

Tottenham player ratings vs Brentford

Antonin Kinsky: It was a first Premier League clean sheet for Kinsky who made some huge stops and, other than one shaky moment, the Czech keeper was great under pressure with the ball at his feet. 7.

Pedro Porro: Porro battled hard today and was disciplined, as the Spaniard didn’t bomb forward at every opportunity, instead having the maturity to become more cautious as the game grew on. He was actually decent defensively too, which helped. 7.

Archie Gray: Credit where it’s due for the defenders today, who secured a clean sheet against the highest scorers at home. Gray swept up superbly and dealt with shots and crosses effectively. Yet another quality showing from the lad! 8.

Ben Davies: Mr. Reliable was on show once again as he dealt with the constant Brentford pressure really well. It was a no-nonsense display from Davies who dealt with the danger on a number of occasions, and really proved his worth. 9.

Djed Spence: Spence was an influential figure throughout the match, as his aggression off the ball was matched with a desire to create stuff when he was on the ball. He dealt with Mbeumo’s attacking threat really well and even cleared a huge Brentford chance off the line. He won duel after duel and is really beginning to put his name on the map. A superb performance from a superb player. 9.5.

Yves Bissouma: Bissouma wasn’t that impressive today and eventually made way for Sarr just after the hour mark. He was often slow to the second ball and too safe in possession, and he was bypassed too easily several times by Brentford’s midfield. 5.5.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Bentancur was superb as the Uruguayan battled hard to win the ball back, showing real commitment to the badge and repaying his boss’ faith. A performance to be proud of. 8.5.

Dejan Kulusevski: Deki tried his best to be instrumental this afternoon, and the Swede was relentless with his running and chance-creating throughout the match. Unfortunately, nothing he created amounted to much, but he certainly made his presence known. He was a real nuisance for Brentford today. 6.5.

Mikey Moore: Mikey was substituted at half-time after a promising first-half display where he nearly provided a goal for Richarlison and could’ve won a penalty on another day. 6.

Richarlison: Richy was really poor today, as he lacked a presence in the box meaning a lot of Spurs’ crosses sailed out of danger, and his hold-up play was futile. His general play was just too slow and it made him easy to defend. He eventually came off for Scarlett. 5.5.

Heung-min Son: Son forced Spurs’ opener as it was his corner that was turned into the hosts’ net by their own player, Janelt. Throughout the first half, Son tried and failed to add his own name to the scoresheet, as he saw several shots blocked or turned away. Sonny got an assist for Sarr’s goal with a lovely through ball. He was the difference today. It may not have been his most electric performance but that makes 18 goals and assists for Son in 31 games now this season (TransferMarkt). 8.

Substitutes:

Lucas Bergvall: Bergvall came on at half-time but didn’t make the impact Ange would’ve wanted him to. He came close with a shot that he dragged just wide of the post, and in fairness, Lucas was important to the victory. 7.

Pape Sarr: Pape replaced Bissouma and added some composure to our midfield three. He was composed enough to add a second goal late in the game, slotting the ball through the keeper’s legs. 8.

Dane Scarlett: Scarlett replaced Richy and looked to make it two in two since returning from loan. He wasn’t able to make an impact, unfortunately. N/A.
