Harry Kane has already told Tottenham what he thinks of Mathys Tel

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly pulling out all the stops to beat their fellow Premier League rivals to the signature of Mathys Tel, and the winger has been given the seal of approval by Spurs legend Harry Kane.

Tottenham determined to win the race for Mathys Tel

Over recent hours, a number of reliable sources have reported that Spurs are very motivated to see off competition from the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea to land Tel.

This includes Fabrizio Romano, who has said on his YouTube channel that Tottenham are prepared to go big to sign Tel on a permanent basis before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, L’Equipe have said that Spurs are the ones who are ‘the most insistent’ on landing the 19-year-old, with the club’s technical director, Johan Lange, currently in Germany trying to convince the player to come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What Harry Kane has said about Tel

It appears that Tottenham still have some work to do to secure a deal for Mathys Tel, but Spurs fans will be delighted to know that Harry Kane is a big fan of the teenager.

In an interview that the England captain gave not long after joining the Bundesliga giants, he praised the commitment that the young winger has shown in training.

When asked about Tel, Kane said at the time (via Football London): “He’s started the season really well. I like the way he trains. He’s always pushing himself and is fully committed. Every time he came in he made a difference and is very confident.”

Why Mathys Tel could suit Tottenham

It is interesting to note that rather than just praising Tel’s qualities as a player, Kane has spoken highly of his character and work ethic.

Those are qualities that Postecoglou looks for in his signings, with the Australian having repeatedly spoken about wanting to add the right sort of personalities to the squad in order to ensure there is a family feel at Hotspur Way.

Add to this the fact that Mathys Tel is the right age and tactical profile for Tottenham, and it is easy to understand why the North London club are desperate to win the race for the France Under-21 international.
