Predicted Tottenham XI to face IF Elfsborg – Micky van de Ven starts
Despite poor results in recent weeks, Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a boost in terms of returning players – but will that be enough for a win on Thursday? Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face IF Elfsborg.
Predicted Tottenham XI to face IF Elfsborg
Goalkeeper – Brandon Austin: Austin was handed a start last week because of Kinsky’s ineligibility in the Europa League. We expect him to continue in goal this week as Forster still lacks match sharpness.
Right-back – Pedro Porro: No Spence, no Reguilón as they were not registered for the Europa League. This should see Porro continue as a right-back.
Centre-back – Radu Dragusin: Cristian Romero is still not match-ready according to Ange Postecoglou, so Radu should continue at centre-back in this one.
Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: According to the manager, van de Ven is match-ready and is expected to get some minutes on Thursday. Whether that is from the start remains to be seen, but we will take a chance and put him in our starting eleven.
Left-back – Ben Davies: Archie Gray has been playing consecutively in the last ten games for Spurs. He needs a rest and on Thursday he could get one. Davies starts.
Pivot midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: Spurs are somewhat short in midfield as Sarr and Bissouma are not a hundred per cent just yet. Bergvall could retain his starting spot here.
Central midfielder – Rodrigo Bentancur: Since returning from his head injury, Bentancur has played twice – he started last Thursday and on Sunday. He is still fit and should start against Elfsborg.
Central midfielder – Dejan Kulusevski: James Maddison is out for two to three weeks which means that Spurs have lost one of their creative midfielders. We could see Deki drop in there in Thursday’s clash.
Left midfielder – Heung-min Son: If Kulusevski is shifted to midfield, then we can see Son play on the left as Spurs are short of forward options with Johnson and Werner still out injured.
Striker – Richarlison: Despite an injury scare on Sunday, Richarlison was spotted in first-team training today which is a positive sign. He is expected to lead the line here.
Right midfielder – Mikey Moore: Since his return from illness, Mikey Moore has not been handed a start for the club, although he has made a few cameos off the bench. This Thursday could see him make a return to the starting eleven as he has looked really good in his brief cameos.
