Tottenham consider bid for Chelsea defender in shock transfer
Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a new centre-back and could look to make an offer for a defender of their London rivals Chelsea.
Tottenham’s centre-back options
This season has tested the depth of the Tottenham first-team squad, particularly in the heart of defence. With Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven only managing 12 and nine Premier League appearances respectively due to injury, squad players have been required to step up.
Ben Davies has generally received positive comments for his performances. However, the Welsh international has suffered an injury setback of his own, causing him to miss 12 matches. Also, with his contract expiring in the summer, there is a good chance his lengthy spell in North London will soon come to an end.
Radu Dragusin has also been promoted to the first-team due to injuries, but his performances have left supporters questioning why he was signed in the first place. Meanwhile, Archie Gray has put in a few good shifts as a centre-back, but he is most likely to play as a midfielder next season.
Tottenham are interested in signing Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea
With limited options available, Spurs are looking to add another defender to their ranks and according to Caught Offside, one surprise candidate to have emerged as a potential signing is Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo.
Despite impressing in his four seasons at Fulham, Adarabioyo has only made 11 Premier League appearances since joining Chelsea last summer.
However, Chelsea may be reluctant to sell to their London rivals. As well as this, Adarabioyo started and scored in the Blues’ most recent fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers, in what was his fourth goal of the season in all competitions.
What other centre-backs are Spurs linked with?
Along with Adarabioyo, Spurs were considering PSG defender, Milan Skriniar, who they have previously been linked with during his time at Inter. Tottenham are also interested in Chelsea academy graduate, Fikayo Tomori, who has spent the past four years at AC Milan.
Skriniar is out of favour at the French league leaders and a deal to secure his services would likely be easier than signing Tomori, who has been approached by Juventus.
